What Is A Green Tea Cocktail?
A green tea cocktail is a type of alcoholic beverage that includes green tea as one of its main ingredients.
Green tea is a type of tea that is made from the leaves of the Camellia Sinensis plant and is known for its health benefits and high levels of antioxidants.
There are many different types of green tea cocktails, and the exact ingredients can vary depending on the recipe. Some common ingredients include green tea, vodka, gin, and sake, as well as fruits, herbs, and sweeteners such as honey, agave or ginger syrup.
If you’re a tea lover our thirst quenching Green Tea Cocktail offers a harmony of Japanese-inspired flavours.
Jasmine-scented green tea is steeped and stored in the fridge until cool. It’s then poured into a cocktail shaker with vodka, lemon juice and spicy ginger syrup.
We’ve added additional green tea flavour to the drink by using Green Owl Vodka, which is flavoured with natural green tea extract.
You can also use your favourite premium vodka with a stronger steeped green tea for a similar sublime sipping experience.

Green Owl Green Tea Vodka
Carmen Sandor is the founder of Green Owl Vodka, a Canadian craft distillery in Vaughn with offices in nearby Oakville.
The Ontario-made spirit is made using a combination of tea variations, which is why you might also taste notes of lemon and mint as well. It is an all natural, gluten free product that is triple distilled in small batches.
“Green Owl Vodka is infused with green tea extract from Japan, and lightly sweetened for a long and smooth flavour. The first sip will wake up your taste buds, the next will raise your spirits,” said Sandor.
We grabbed a bottle and took it home to our bar to mix and muddle a new Green Tea Cocktail recipe.
Our best sipping experiment resulted in this refreshing Green Tea Cocktail recipe featuring Green Owl Vodka, chilled green tea, ginger syrup and fresh lemon juice.

Green tea comes in various types, each with its unique taste and aroma. Here are some of the most common types of green tea that you can shake into a refreshing vodka cocktail:
- Sencha: This is the most popular type of green tea in Japan, and it is made from the first and second flush of the tea leaves. It has a grassy, vegetal flavour.
- Matcha: This is a type of green tea that is made from finely ground tea leaves. It has a bright green colour and a slightly sweet taste.

Green Tea Cocktail Ingredients
This homemade Green Tea Cocktail recipe is made with fresh and quality ingredients:
- Green Owl Vodka: the premium Canadian-made vodka is flavoured with natural green tea extract.
- Green Tea: steap your favourite green tea then let the tea pot cool in the fridge before mixing into cocktails. We like to use jasmine green tea but you can use whatever variety you’d like.
- Lemon Juice: only use freshly squeezed lemon juice. You can taste the difference when someone incorrectly muddles cocktails with store bought citrus juice.
- Ginger Syrup: we suggest using Organic Ginger Syrup by The Ginger People.

Cocktail Recipe Tips
This Vodka Green Tea recipe is easy to make at home, ready to serve in under 10 minutes.
We love serving the refreshing vodka muddled drink on hot days in the summer during stone fruit season at family barbecues, cottage happy hour and on a sun-soaked patio.
Our Green Tea and Vodka recipe below is listed for one person. If you’re hosting a large gathering feel free to multiply the ingredients by the number of guests and muddle the drink in a punch bowl or jug rather than a cocktail shaker.
If you’re hosting a party we suggest storing the vodka bottle in your freezer an hour before guests arrive to ensure the spirit is well chilled.
Serve the drink in an ice filled Collins Glass garnished with a lemon wheel.

Best Bartender Tools & Cocktail Equipment
Before hosting a swanky Green Teak Vodka Cocktail party you’ll need to ensure you have the best bartender tools and cocktail equipment.
- Cocktail Kit: cocktail kits are the perfect gift for newbie mixology fans as they include basic bartender tools like a jigger, shaker and spoon.
- Cocktail Shaker: a bartender’s best friend. Purchase a premium cocktail shaker to muddle or shake up your favourite pink gin cocktails.
- Cocktail Glassware: make sure your bar is stocked with a selection of unique glassware to show off your favourite cocktail creations.
- Hawthorne Strainer: this unique strainer features tightly wound coils and perforated holes. It keeps ice and other large ingredients like lime wedges in your cocktail shaker rather than in the glass.
- Bar Spoons: slender and long bar spoons are a must-have when stirring drinks.
- Bottle Opener: easily open bottles of beer or cider with the flick of your wrist or purchase a corkscrew for fine wine.
- Pouring Spout: once you’ve opened a new bottle of gin insert these affordable pourers to make cocktail assembly a breeze.
- Cutting Board: purchase a petite cutting board for your bar to slice garnishes or citrus wedges like lime, orange, lemon or grapefruit.
- Ice Bucket: chill bottles of gin quickly in an ice bucket or keep by the bar when muddling gin mixers into cool creations.

- Ice Cube Kit: we suggest purchasing a selection of ice cube trays. Silicone styles are our favourite as they’re easy to clean and are available in various shapes and sizes.
- Jigger: use a jigger to accurately measure spirits, juices, syrups and shrubs.
- Juicer: invest in an electronic juicer or buy an affordable hand-held to easily juice fresh citrus like lemons and limes.
- Muddler: fans of the Mojito love a sturdy muddler to mix mint and lime. Muddler’s are handy for any cocktail featuring ingredients that need a pounding like fresh herbs or citrus wedges.
- Citrus Peeler & Zester: adorn your craft cocktails with a thick citrus peel or finer ribbons of lime or lemon zest.
- Rimmer: Bloody Mary and Caesar lovers should outfit their bar with a handy rimmer for salting and sugaring glassware.
