What Is A Jameson Lemonade?

An Irish Lemonade, also known as a Jameson and Lemonade, is a refreshing cocktail featuring Ireland’s most beloved whisky bottle.

Considered one of Jameson’s signature craft cocktails, the crowd-pleasing drink offers layers of complexity featuring boozy whiskey, tart sparkling lemonade, spicy Caribbean-style ginger beer and flavour-packed bitters.

We love to serve the drink in a classic Collin’s glass, garnished with a lemon wheel and fresh sprig of mint.

I love traveling to Ireland, especially since its where my family traces our ancestral heritage. It always feels like I’m coming back home when I land on the Emerald Isle!

On a fun Irish Genealogy and Ancestry Adventure I was able to visit the land my family originally owned before sailing to Canada to start a new life.

As a food and travel journalist I’ve had the opportunity to visit Ireland on 4 trips that had me hunting down the Best Day Trips from Dublin, organizing the Ultimate Irish Road Trip, swooning for a romantic Honeymoon in Ireland, Exploring the Causeway Coast from Belfast to Bushmills and experiencing Saint Patrick’s Day in Dublin.

This celebratory Irish Whiskey recipe is best served in a handsome Collins glass.

Jameson Whiskey: Ireland’s most famous whiskey is the backbone of this Irish Lemonade recipe. It features a light floral fragrance, peppered with spicy wood and sweet notes.
Sparkling Lemonade: add a fizzy sparkle to the drink and tart lemon flavour with San Pellegrino Limonata.
Ginger Beer: add spiciness to the drink by using a classic Caribbean-style ginger beer like Fever Tree or The Great Jamaican.
Bitters: a few drops of Angostura Bitters gives the lemonade a delicious depth and complexity.
Garnish: decorate each glass with a lemon wheel and fresh mint sprig.

This Jameson Lemonade recipe is so easy to make at home, ready to serve in under 5 minutes!

PREPARE THE GLASS: Begin by preparing your cocktail glass. If desired, you can fill each Collins glass with ice to ensure they are well chilled. Set the glass aside while you prepare the drink.
POUR & SWIRL: Fill the glass with Jameson whiskey, sparkling lemonade, ginger beer and bitters. Using a bar spoon, gently swirl the ingredients for 30-45 seconds until well chilled.
GARNISH & SERVE: Decorate the rim of the glass with a lemon wheel and fresh sprig of mint.

We suggest serving a Jameson and Lemonade in an elegant Collins glass.
While we like to use traditional Jameson Irish Whiskey when making an Irish Lemonade we encourage you to get creative as the brand makes several unique expressions. You may also want to try muddling the drink with Jameson Black Barrel or Jameson 18 Years.
Our recipe serves one person. If you’re hosting a large gathering feel free to multiply the ingredients by the number of guests and muddle the drink in a festive punch bowl or jug rather than a cocktail shaker.
Feel free to add a few drops of your favourite flavoured bitters to give the drink additional complexity. Lemon or Ginger Bitters work well.
You can level up this cocktail for a glamorous occasion by topping the drink with champagne sparkling wine.
An hour or two before you’re planning on serving drinks we suggest placing the Jameson whiskey bottle in your freezer so it’s well chilled.
If you find the drink too boozy, tart or spicy feel free to add a splash of soda to mellow it out.
We like to give the drink a splash of green (it’s Irish after all!) by adding a sprig of mint but you can substitue for basil.
If you don’t have access to a sparkling lemonade like San Pellegrino Limonata you can always use classic lemonade or lemon flavoured soda like Sprite or 7Up.
