Simple Times: Crafts for Poor People by Amy Sedaris

Amy Sedaris is my hero! She is hilarious! I was a huge fan of her first book, “I Like You: Hospitality Under the Influence,” and her television show Strangers with Candy. She was in Toronto tonight on her whirlwind book tour promoting her newest addition to my shelf, “Simple Times: Crafts for Poor People.”

I arrived with Erica, Daniel and Eden at 5pm and was early enough to get a few of the fold out chairs. The place filled up with her fans and by 7pm when she went on stage the place was standing room only. She had a quick interview with MTV’s Dan Levi and then jumped on stage to demonstrate a few of the crafts in her newest book.

I was able to capture a bunch of great animated pictures of her speaking. It was hard to get the pictures in focus as I was shaking from laughter throughout her banter. I actually got a bit nervous before going up to the table and chatting with her as she signed my book. I told her that her interviews on David Letterman comforted me when I was all alone living in Seoul Korea (in fear that North Korea would invade). She wrote in my book: “Dobbernation, have a great life. Amy Sedaris.”
