I love the internet. Most importantly I love hilarious youtube video’s. My friends might scoff because I may actually be a bit more dedicated to the art of curation and force fed presentation than the average consumer of the news feed. My passion became so pronounced that one day I decided to create a youtube playlist entitled Giggles simply so all of my favourites could stream in one place. If I had a wife and she chirped at night, “company’s coming!” I’d expect to sip cocktails, slather pork rillettes on crispy crostini and introduce new friends to my all time favourite tickle teaser, Scare Tactics.
Scare Tactics launched in 2003 and over the years has been hosted by Shannon Doherty, Stephen Baldwin and Tracy Morgan. The show is a hilarious hidden camera/comedy where contestants who think they have arrived to a temp job are actually being punkd by their friends in terrifying sci-fi and horror plot scenarios. Fans of the show indulge in the unique humour found in watching real life people react to terrifying situations such as alien abductions, nuclear war and monster attacks.
The pranks end when the victim is completely terrified and someone asks them, “Are you scared?” to which they usually reply in the affirmative. They get the reply, “You shouldn’t be! You’re on Scare Tactics!”

Channeling the Dead
This was the first Scare Tactics video I ever saw and was instantly addicted. The scene involves a friendly gay man who has arrived to a family’s home to babysit their children and soon discovers via the mother upon arrival that one of the daughters is dead (electrocution). Low and behold the daughter’s ghost comes back to say hello! His reaction is priceless!
Cult Pregnancy a la Rosemary’s Baby
Fan’s of the Mia Farrow’s classic horror will adore this remake scenerio where a cult arrives to a doctor’s office with a woman pregnant with Satan’s baby. One of my favourite quotes from the show can be found within, “That’s not your priest?!”
Rat Monster
Brian is a fabulously flamboyantly gay animal rights activist who finds himself in an illegal bio lab where scientists have been mixing and mingling human DNA with animal DNA. There’s a point where he is so scared of the “little monster man running around in here” that he suggests “let’s get out of here, come back with some guns.” I have a hunch PETA would not approve! He also performs the most epic silent scream which you’ll find reappears for years in your dreams.
UFO Abduction
Scene starts off with a couple hopping in a cab, eating fast food in the back seat while chatting about how excited they are to go to their first rave. In the middle of the desert the car stalls and moments later a massive light appears and a giant alien rips off one of the doors. The fight or flight reaction is priceless.
Corpse Whisperer
Christina is on the job at night checking out a private cemetery as locals have been complaining about vandalization. Turns out it’s a creepy cult who throw chickens at her and devour her sidekick into a grave. Basically your worst nightmare.
