What Is A Bombay Bramble Cocktail?

The Bramble is a craft cocktail created by Dick Bradsell in 1980s LondonEngland.

Best described as a spring or summer cocktail, a traditional Bramble brings together dry gin, lemon juice, simple syrup, crème de mûre blackberry liqueur, and crushed ice. Bradsell also suggests finishing off the cocktail with fresh red fruits and a slice of lemon.

Our take on the classic British cocktail simplifies things by using raspberry and blackberry flavoured Bombay Bramble Gin as the base spirit of the drink.

If you enjoy berry & gin muddled cocktails you may also like to make a Raspberry Gin Fizz or Chambord Raspberry Bramble Cocktail.

Bombay Bramble Blackberry and Raspberry Gin

Bombay Sapphire, one of the world’s top selling gin brands, recently launched Bombay Bramble to the delight of mixologists and craft cocktail fans.

The elegant bottle features a portrait of Queen Victoria and exterior decorated with garlands of fresh berries.

Inspired by the original Bramble cocktail, Bombay Bramble Gin pours a deep red, bursting with natural flavours of blackberry, raspberry, juniper, and a hint of spice. The gin is light-bodied and fruity with a long, balanced finish.

Bombay Bramble starts with Laverstoke Mill’s signature Bombay Dry Gin as a base. Then they add “natural flavours of blackberries and raspberries.” There is no added sugar.

Bombay Bramble is a Pink Gin that is distilled to 43% alc/vol.

Travel To England By Making A Bombay Bramble Cocktail At Home

I love traveling to Europe!

During my first visit to the continent I traveled for 5 months by train and plane. I had the opportunity to eat my way through IrelandScotlandEnglandWalesPortugalSpainFranceBelgiumHollandDenmarkNorwaySwedenFinlandRussiaEstoniaLatviaPolandCzech RepublicGermanyAustriaCroatiaBosniaHungarySlovakiaGreeceTurkey and Italy.

What I love most about traveling to the United Kingdom is the opportunity to sample unique dishes and drinks in each region and city. The dishes in London are unique to what you’d find in BelfastHampshireBrightonSouthamptonCardiffGlasgowEdinburghSkye or Islay.

While staying at the Four Seasons Hotel Hampshire, I had the opportunity to visit the Bombay Sapphire Distillery, which is a short drive away.

Cocktail fans visit the impressive distillery via a self guided tour, which offers a multi-sensory Willy Wonka dream-like experience.

Take in the crystal clear water and beautiful natural surroundings as you walk along the River Test. Step back in time to uncover the fascinating history behind Laverstoke Mill in the Heritage Room. Discover the ten exotic botanicals in Bombay Sapphire gin in the Glasshouses (designed by famed architect Thomas Heatherwick) and Botanical Dry Room and then join a friendly guide as they take you behind the scenes of the unique Vapour Infusion distillation process in the Dakin Still House. Immerse yourself in the history of gin and Bombay Sapphire in the Gin Academy, then your experience culminates in The Mill Bar where a complimentary gin spiked cocktail offers a thirst quenching finale.

After your tour ends stop by the onsite cocktail bar to watch bartenders shake up a parade of refreshing cocktails so you can taste through the brands various Bombay Sapphire expressions. I enjoyed the berry infused Bombay Bramble Cocktail prepared for me at the distillery so much that it’s now one of my favourite drinks to make at home.

Cocktail Recipe Tips

  • We suggest serving this drink in a Collins Glass glass but you can also use a wine glass if you prefer.
  • This recipe serves one person. If you’re hosting a large gathering feel free to multiply the ingredients by the number of guests and muddle the drink in a festive punch bowl or jug rather than a cocktail shaker.
  • Feel free to add a few drops of your favourite flavoured bitters to give the drink additional complexity. Lemon or Raspberry bitters works well.
  • You can level up this cocktail for a glamorous occasion by topping the drink with champagne sparkling wine.
  • An hour or two before you’re planning on serving drinks we suggest placing the Bombay Bramble Gin bottle in your freezer so it’s well chilled.
  • We’ve prepared this cocktail as a Gin & Tonic but if you don’t like the taste of quinine feel free to substitute with soda water.
  • We like to garnish the drink with a lemon wedge so it’s easy to spritz but you can also decorate with an attractive lemon wheel.

Best Bartender Tools & Cocktail Equipment

Before hosting a Bombay Bramble cocktail party you’ll need to ensure you have the best bartender tools and cocktail equipment.

  • Cocktail Kit: cocktail kits are the perfect gift for newbie mixology fans as they include basic bartender tools like a jigger, shaker and spoon.
  • Cocktail Shaker: a bartender’s best friend. Purchase a premium cocktail shaker to muddle or shake up your favourite pink gin cocktails.
  • Cocktail Glassware: make sure your bar is stocked with a selection of unique glassware to show off your favourite cocktail creations.
  • Hawthorne Strainer: this unique strainer features tightly wound coils and perforated holes. It keeps ice and other large ingredients like lime wedges in your cocktail shaker rather than in the glass.
  • Bar Spoons: slender and long bar spoons are a must-have when stirring drinks.
  • Bottle Opener: easily open bottles of beer or cider with the flick of your wrist or purchase a corkscrew for fine wine.
  • Pouring Spout: once you’ve opened a new bottle of gin insert these affordable pourers to make cocktail assembly a breeze.
  • Cutting Board: purchase a petite cutting board for your bar to slice garnishes or citrus wedges like lime, orange, lemon or grapefruit.
  • Ice Bucket: chill bottles of gin quickly in an ice bucket or keep by the bar when muddling gin mixers into cool creations.
  • Ice Crusher: fans of the Mint Julep love an ice crusher.
  • Ice Cube Kit: we suggest purchasing a selection of ice cube trays. Silicone styles are our favourite as they’re easy to clean and are available in various shapes and sizes.
  • Jigger: use a jigger to accurately measure spirits, juices, syrups and shrubs.
  • Juicer: invest in an electronic juicer or buy an affordable hand-held to easily juice fresh citrus like lemons and limes.
  • Muddler: fans of the Mojito love a sturdy muddler to mix mint and lime. Muddler’s are handy for any cocktail featuring ingredients that need a pounding like fresh herbs or citrus wedges.
  • Citrus Peeler & Zester: adorn your craft cocktails with a thick citrus peel or finer ribbons of lime or lemon zest.
  • Rimmer: Bloody Mary and Caesar lovers should outfit their bar with a handy rimmer for salting and sugaring glassware.
