Sheraton Grand Krakow Luxury Hotel

If you’re looking to romance yourself on a weekend away in Poland’s cultural capital situate yourself in the heart of the city at the newly renovated Sheraton Grand Krakow. The city’s favourite contemporary luxury hotel sits perched on the banks of the Wista River, offering its guests jaw-dropping views of the ancient architectural icon, Wawel Castle.

The hotel boasts 232 spacious, fully renovated rooms featuring a modern, residential interior by renowned London-based designer Alex Kravetz. The designer utilized customized furniture, designs that reflect local folk patterns, and commissioned pieces by local artist Sabina Woźnica.

If you’re looking to splurge book yourself into the Grand Deluxe Suite, a 77 sqm space featuring two rooms that offer compelling views of both Wawel Castle and the river. The Grand Deluxe suite is stylish, spacious and comfortable, with modern decor and intimate lighting, separate bedroom and living areas designed in a residential style.

Those spending their weekend in the hotel’s luxurious suite enjoy fully equipped, marble bathrooms outfitted with sweet smelling Le Grand Bain amenities as well as access to the hotel’s exclusive Sheraton Club Lounge (where from 5-7pm each night complimentary cocktails, beer, wine and nibbles can be enjoyed).

Head up to the 5th floor and you’ll find the Sheraton Grand Krakow’s showpiece, a jaw-dropping rooftop terrace offering brilliant views of the city’s castle, cathedral and rolling river. May I suggest arriving here an hour before sunset so you can sit perched over the city while sipping a refreshing bottle of locally produced sparkling apple cider? You’ll also find plenty of pretty plates that reflect what’s growing in the region. In the late Spring a creamy bowl of risotto topped with asparagus, shards of local cheese, and fillet of fresh fish offered a sublime finale to an enchanting day spent strolling around Krakow’s historic Old Town.

Downstairs at Qube Vodka Bar hop up on a stool and chat with the resident bartender about Poland’s much loved spirit. The hotel’s sun-soaked lobby bar is the perfect place to sip through a parade of local vodka’s, served ice cold in a chilled shot glass. Also be sure to sample from the choir of traditional Polish liqueurs, sweetened with the likes of cherry, quince, walnut, and lemon.

In the evening skip on over to The Olive Restaurant and you’ll find an elegant sky-high dining room serving a combination of Mediterranean and Polish faves. Located in a design-tastic glass-roof atrium, the Sheraton Grand Krakow offers year-round courtyard dining each evening featuring entertainment by a classical pianist. Executive Chef Jacek Filpczyk was recently honoured with the award of best restaurant and best menu at Krakow’s popular Fine Dining Week festival in 2017, so be sure to sample through his contemporary takes on pierogi, creamy mushroom soup, and roast duck with braised cabbage, pears and handmade noodles.
