Jade Mountain is a 5 star resort, which spreads out across an idyllic 600 acre beachfront estate from high above Morne Chastanet.

Located a scenic 1 hour drive north of Hewanorra International Airport, Jade Mountain Resort is ideally located on the western coast of the island. It’s a stones throw from many of St. Lucia’s most popular tourist attractions, like the enchanting Botanical Gardens, the world’s only drive-in volcano, and therapeutic Sulphur Springs.

Jade Mountain boasts views of both the Petit and Gros Piton mountains, that stoically rise above the Caribbean Sea. The paradise location is enveloped by lush tropical gardens, historical plantations, and soft sandy beaches lapped by warm coral waters.

It’s best to think of Jade Mountain Resort as an “exclusive resort within a resort,” as it’s the second concept by architect and owner Nick Troubetzkoy of Anse Chastanet. Troubetzkoy launched Jade Mountain in 2006, expanding his philosophy of building in harmony with Caribbean nature by introducing a new level of sophistication via the resort’s otherworldly infinity pool sanctuaries.

Jade Mountain’s sister property, Anse Chastanet, directly adjoins Jade Mountain. All Anse Chastanet facilities are conveniently available and easily accessible to Jade Mountain guests. One feels as though they are getting two resorts for the price of one!

Ranked as one of the best luxury hotels in Saint Lucia, Jade Mountain’s luxurious accommodation is perfect for those looking to book a romantic honeymoon getaway. Guests boast the benefits of both resorts, pairing Jade Mountain’s unforgettable views with the soft sandy beach, restaurants, bars, and water sports at Anse Chastanet, which is but a stones throw away.

Checking In At Jade Mountain Resort

Jade Mountain guests receive pre-arrival concierge services from the resort’s guest services team, which range from confirming airport transportation or helicopter transfers, pre-booking excursions or spa treatments, making restaurant and private dining reservations, and even arranging exclusive amenities to surprise your sweet heart.

Upon arrival, guests are greeted by members of the management team and their personal Major Domo, a dedicated butler who sees to your every need while on property, 24 hours a day. After check-in you’re escorted to your own private sanctuary, given a tour of the room and debriefed on the resorts amenities. Guests are also provided with a satellite phone for seamless communication with the service team during their stay.

The architecture, art and bridges that make up the design of Jade Mountain Resort are otherworldly.
The architecture, art and bridges that make up the design of Jade Mountain Resort are otherworldly.

Troubetzkoy’s bold architectural design, individual bridges leading to exceptional infinity pool sanctuaries and rugged stoned-faced columns reaching towards the sky, make Jade Mountain one of the Caribbean’s top holiday resorts for design lovers.

“Your entry door is a massive roughhewn slab of exotic tropical hardwood. Your first step inside creates an instant spiritual uplift. The infinity pool in front of you is a luminescent Persian carpet floating you out into space, to hover over the Caribbean Sea, hypnotized by St. Lucia’s magnificent Piton mountains,” said Troubetzkoy.

His passion for celebrating local can be seen in the organic materials used to build the resort, “The rose-gray, hand-split stone cladding material used throughout was sourced on the property and from other sources in St. Lucia. We also turned to our Caribbean neighbours, bringing in blush-coloured coral finishes found in Barbados, various tropical hardwoods from Guyana and an array of coral tiles from the Dominican Republic.”

Accommodation

The most important question you have to ask yourself when reading a Jade Mountain Resort review is, “what type of accommodation would I like to book for my holiday.”

At Jade Mountain, each of the 24 infinity pool sanctuaries stands as a unique masterpiece of design and architecture. The sanctuaries offer unrivalled views of the Pitons and the Caribbean Sea, with sanctuaries positioned at varying elevations.

All pools feature shallow water lounging areas in addition to a large swimming area. They are surfaced entirely in one-of-a-kind glass tiles that feature a textured iridescent surface on one side and a smooth but undulating surface on the other. The pools are also equipped with fibre optics that illuminate at night. Guests have the option of allowing the system to cycle through a range of colours or setting it to one particular shade. Perfect for setting a romantic mood.

Bathrooms are outfitted with a rain shower and elevated jacuzzi tub.

Sanctuary spaces are crafted to blend the bedroom, living area, and your very own private infinity pool into a seamless, expansive setting that extends into the natural surroundings.

Each sanctuary boasts impressive 15ft high ceilings and a distinctive, individual design where the fourth wall is deliberately absent, inviting breathtaking views while ensuring the utmost privacy.

To cater to different preferences and budgets, the sanctuaries are categorized into four rate types based on their square footage and pool size: STAR, MOON, SUN, and GALAXY.

In addition to bespoke tropical wood furniture, the interior walls are adorned with a soft, blush-toned coral plaster from Barbados, while the exteriors feature robust concrete and local stone, complemented by large tropical wood window frames with adjustable jalousie louvers.

Sanctuaries feature a king-size bed and a suite of luxurious amenities: a refrigerator, tea/coffee facilities, hair dryer, iron, and an electronic safe, with butler service available for added convenience. Exclusive Voya guest amenities, plush Frette bathrobes and towels elevate the experience.

Turndown service is offered by the friendly housekeeping team each night. The elevated end-of-day service is made extra special with a sampling of handcrafted chocolate and a nightly poem.

A complimentary mini bar is stocked daily with sparkling water, soda and local Piton Beer. Each day the butler places a bento box in the fridge that features a trilogy of tastes: fresh fruit, something savoury (like a curry chicken wrap or grilled fish skewers) and a sweet treat (like passion fruit meringue pie or chocolate cake).

We guarantee you’ll stroll back to your sanctuary in a daze feeling absolutely sublime!

Since St. Lucia is famous for its cacao plantations there’s also a menu dedicated to chocolate infused body treatments.

Jade Mountain Resort St. Lucia Restaurants

No review of Jade Mountain Resort is complete until you’ve had an opportunity to wag your finger down the resort’s marvellous menus.

The petite Jade Mountain features one signature restaurant, Jade Mountain Club, which boasts panoramic views. Guests also enjoy easy access to several restaurant concepts at the resort’s sister property Anse Chastanet.

Jade Mountain Resort does a great job at showcasing it’s sustainable farm to fork ethos. We recommend foodies sign up for a fun garden tour, which showcases the impressive organic farm nearby that grows 99% of all of the produce used on the resort’s menus as well as ornamental plants. You’ll also find an onsite craft brewery simply called The Local Beer Company, which brews a delicious Passionfruit Ale and Chocolate Stout.

The most popular foodie tour starts on the beach. Enjoy an educational stroll through the properties old plantation, a former sugar cane farm and molasses production facility where guests can taste freshly cracked coconuts and cacao pods.

We highly recommend chocolate lovers attend an informal chocolate tasting followed by an hour long chocolate lab where you learn to temper chocolate and make your own DIY artisanal bar to take home.

Wrapped around a postcard-perfect infinity pool, the Jade Mountain Club caters exclusively to resident guests, celebrating James Beard Award winner, Chef Allen Susser’s unique “Jade Cuisine.”

The Jade Mountain Club is the resort’s all-day-dining concept, open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Live entertainment is featured on select evenings throughout the week, ranging from one of the island’s most celebrated jazz musicians to a classical acoustic guitarist.

Jade Mountain Club menus reflect seasonal changes of flavour with influences throughout the Caribbean. The restaurant boasts several notable awards such as US News “Top 5 Restaurants in the Caribbean,” Wine Spectator Award of Excellence, and is the only restaurant in the English-speaking Eastern Caribbean to receive a 3 Chef Toque rating.

Jade Mountain Club’s wine list is lauded, showcasing bottles from around the world, but with a special focus on bottles from France and California. Guests are spoilt for choice with 22 premium by-the-glass wines available to swirl, sniff and sip.

Highlights from the Jade Mountain Club dinner menu include the signature Paradise Salad, Pineapple Souscaille, 12 Hour Slow Braised Lamb Shanks and Lemon and Ginger Spiced Dorado.

Hovering in space above the Jade Mountain Club is the aptly named Celestial Terrace, which invites guests to marvel at the sunset and the starry night sky from it’s gorgeous rooftop patio. A visit to the terrace is a daily ritual, allowing the hotel’s small group of guests (remember just 22 rooms) to gather over cocktails and champagne. Mix and mingle and you’ll find plenty of honeymooners.

Treehouse Restaurant

Treehouse Restaurant is a must-try when dining at Anse Chastanet as it offers two unique menus.

Guests at the restaurant can dine in two open air treehouses each night at dinner. In the evening indulge in a romantic candlelit ambiance that overlooks lush tropical foliage and the shimmering Caribbean Sea.

The “Balawoo at Treehouse Restaurant” menu is a recently launched concept featuring fresh sustainable seafood paired with local Caribbean ingredients. Balawoo is the Creole name for a small fish, embodying the restaurants sea-to-plate, farm-to-table philosophy.

Menu highlights include a Caribbean Seafood Bar with fresh Snapper Tiradito, Lionfish Ceviche, and Wahoo Sashimi. Favourites from our visit include Crispy Kurobuta Pork Belly, Sweet Potato Gnocchi and succulent Shrimp & Pork Potstickers. Guests can also enjoy special preparations like a whole roasted fish served in a banana leaf and grilled local spiny lobster with passion fruit butter.

If you’re looking to eat healthy, plant-based dishes on holiday guests rave for the vegan menu by Emerald’s Cuisine. The resort’s meat-free dishes are prepared as modern tapas. The dishes are fresh and flavourful, presented on the plate like little works of art. Highlights from the vegan menu include Crispy Cauliflower Accras with Lime and Bread Fruit Gnocchi with Chadon Beni Pesto.

Enjoy a midday snack at Jungle Grill after spending the morning soaking up the sun, which is open daily from noon-3pm. The relaxed and laid back atmosphere on this exotic soft sand beach makes the Jungle Grill a favourite for tan fans.

Highlights from the lunch menu include Mahi Mahi Ceviche, Barbecued Dorado Fish Burger and a pickled jalapeno and plantain stuffed Angus Beef Burger.

Be sure to shake a few drops of banana ketchup on your plate, it tastes great when dipped with crispy plantain chips.
