Windjammer Landing is located on Labrelotte Bay near the idyllic towns of Gros Islet, Rodney Bay, and Castries, the capital of St. Lucia.

Located a short 15 minute drive south of George F. L. Charles Airport, Windjammer Landing is one of Saint Lucia’s largest Caribbean-style all inclusive resorts.

The resort’s 220 guest rooms and villas range from stylish and contemporary waterfront villas to beachfront suites steps from the water’s edge and charming hillside rooms, each designed to offer its guests beautiful views across Labrelotte Bay and the shimmering Caribbean Sea.

Ranked as one of the best luxury hotels in St. Lucia, Windjammer Landing was originally built in 1989 by a Barbadian architect to be reminiscent of the kind of Mediterranean village you might find in Santorini or Mykonos.

Influenced by its Caribbean meets Mediterranean island setting, the resort’s new design blends nautical and coastal elements, utilizing soft neutrals and pops of St. Lucia’s renowned tranquil blue hue. Custom-made wood furnishings including Mindi and Teak are used throughout spaces to provide contrast, and natural rope and rattan furnishings transform outdoor space into a chic oasis.

Since its initial opening, the resort has undergone several renovations and enhancements, most recently in 2023 featuring redesigned luxury estate villas, new Ocean Point Residences, a refreshed lobby, and updated culinary program.

Checking In At Windjammer Landing

Upon arrival guests skip from their taxi into a sun-soaked lobby, which sits perched over the resort’s two swimming pools.

The grand interior features high vaulted ceiling beams and an open-air concept that has been re-envisioned as a space where guests can mingle and meet. Outfitted with grand chandeliers, contemporary furniture, marble floors, a new reception area, an ambassador’s lounge and an espresso bar by day/wine bar by night concept, the refreshed look enhances the guest check-in experience and brings to life the heart of the resort.

While waiting for room keys I was handed a scented oshibori towel to freshen up my sunburnt face and a glass of boozy Rum Punch to whet the whistle.

The resort is built on a steep hill. Getting around is a breeze as friendly drivers whisk people away to the beach, back to their rooms, or to their dinner reservations 24 hours a day.

After grabbing my room keys a driver lifted my luggage into the back of his van and zoomed up the hill to drop me off at my own private pool villa.

Guests residing in one of the exclusive Ocean Point Residences are welcomed at a dedicated check in where they are greeted by butlers who care for them throughout their stay.

Serene Wellness & Spa

Ranked as one of the best spas in Saint Lucia, Serene Wellness & Spa is the best place to pamper yourself on a romantic Caribbean holiday.

The sun-soaked spa overlooks the ocean and features two outdoor terraces where guests can sit in plush robes while basking in the sun on comfy couches or lawn chairs.

The spa features 6 treatment rooms, offering a range of services including massage therapies, manicures, pedicures, body scrubs and facials. The spa also has a hair salon with a range of services for weddings, honeymoons, and romantic date nights.

The spa is outfitted with a steam room, juice bar, air conditioned relaxation rooms (serving fruit, granola bars, fruit infused ice water and tea), Japanese soaking tubs and outdoor showers.

I experienced the spa’s signature massage, which began with an invigorating exfoliation scrub, followed by a quick shower, deep tissue full body massage and finished up with a quick hydrating facial.

The spa also offers unique 1, 3 and 5 day wellness packages that follow a holistic approach. We suggest inquiring about these unique multi-day wellness adventures, which can include experiences like a nutrition consultation, lymphatic drainage, volcanic mud wrap, reflexology, aromatherapy, cupping therapy, earthing (grounding) sessions in the garden, nature walks and stargazing.

The resort’s gym is located next door to the spa and is outfitted with cardio machines and free weights that offer just enough to continue your fitness regime while on vacation.

Guests can also join complimentary classes like Yoga (Vinyasa, Hummingbird, Paddle Board), pilates, aqua aerobics, and other daily fitness programs.

Guests have the option to book their room on a bed & breakfast basis, or Premium All Inclusive, which includes the daily breakfast buffet, lunch, dinner, snacks, and alcoholic beverages. If you book the all-inclusive option it’s important to note that this also includes free use of motorized water sports.

Dragonfly

The resort’s signature restaurant, Dragonfly, has undergone an extensive renovation and now serves breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Most of the seating at Dragonfly is open air but a small dining room, next to the buffet, is air conditioned. This is the only air conditioned dining room at the hotel so if you are finding the heat and humidity to be unbearable book a table here to cool off.

Guests can be found lining up at Dragonfly each morning to indulge in the hotel’s daily breakfast buffet. You’ll find a selection of tropical juices, yogurt & oatmeal, fresh fruit, cheese, charcuterie, pastries and two live cooking stations for a la minute eggs and French crepes. A hot food buffet features waffles, French toast, pancakes, baked beans, roasted tomatoes, bacon, sausages, fried plantain and saltfish.

At lunch the restaurant offers a healthy antipasti buffet perfect for those looking to graze. You’ll find an extensive salad bar, charcuterie, marinated Italian antipasti like mixed peppers and sun-dried tomatoes, and a protein station filled with poached shrimp, grilled mahi mahi, pesto chicken, and sliced striploin.

At night Dragonfly offers an a la carte menu with a focus on fresh seafood. Highlights from the dinner menu include calamari salad, snapper ceviche, tuna tartare, butterflied prawns, soft shell crab, seafood paella, and selection of Japanese sushi rolls and sashimi.

Enjoy cocktails, fine wine, tapas and sushi at The Perch.

The Perch

The Perch is Dragonfly’s rooftop bar and lounge, featuring hand painted murals by local Caribbean artist Sandy Layne, that depicts the scenic breakwater views from the restaurant.

The terrace is the perfect spot to people watch at sunset. Its petite menu offers shareable tapas dishes. many of which pay homage to authentic Spanish flavours.

Highlights from The Perch tapas menu include Piri Piri King Prawns, Chorizo & Shrimp Skewers, Hot & Spicy Eggplant, Watermelon Feta Salad, and Grilled Chicken with peanut sauce.

Jammers is the resort's signature restaurant offering beautiful views over the beach.

Jammers

Open for both lunch and dinner, Jammer’s offers a casual dining experience with awesome views overlooking the resort’s beach and pretty white and blue striped umbrellas.

Important to note, Jammers is the only restaurant during the dinner hour that does not require a reservation. You can drop by whenever you’re feeling peckish in the afternoon or evening.

At lunch, savour a diverse selection of fresh salads, mouthwatering burgers, and local specialties like Coconut Prawns and Mahi Mahi Fish & Chips.

Once the sun sets Jammers fills up with diners who look extra rouge from spending all day tanning in the hot Caribbean sun. If you’re looking to enjoy a taste of local cuisine we suggest ordering a few popular St Lucian dishes off the menu like Bread Fruit Balls, Dasheen Croquets, Oxtail Stew, Chicken Roti, Beef Pepper Pot, and Mahi Mahi in Creole Sauce.

Upper Deck

Upper Deck is considered to be Windjammer Landing’s most sophisticated restaurant, complete with white table cloth adorned tables.

The restaurant is located next door to Jammers, which similarly offers diners beautiful views overlooking the beach. This exclusive dining room is open only in the evening, ensuring an intimate setting for those looking to indulge in an elevated steakhouse experience.

Wag your finger down the Upper Deck menu and you’ll find a short and sweet selection of starters and mains. Four appetizers were on offer during my visit: Seafood Bisque, Onion Wafu, Tuna Sashimi and Steak Tartare.

Main course options are meat-centric such as Confit Duck Leg, Wagyu Beef Burger, Korean BBQ Striploin, Steak & Chips, Filet Mignon Surf & Turf and Lamb Rack with Aubergene Milanese.

Papa Don’s is Windjammer Landing Resort’s only hillside restaurant, offering an authentic taste of the Mediterranean.

The resort’s Italian restaurant offers the only a la carte breakfast menu, ideal for those who don’t want to binge on a huge buffet.

At breakfast guests can enjoy hot off the griddle Omelettes, Eggs Benedict, Steak & Eggs, Full English Breakfast, Waffles, French Toast, Cinnamon Pancakes, and healthy Hummus Avocado Toast.

In the evening the restaurant transforms into a trattoria, serving classic Italian fare like Mint alla Zucchini, Burrata Salad, Pork Milanese, Mussels Linguine, Spicy Rigatoni, Lasagna Bolognese and selection of gourmet thin crust pizzas.

Embers

Ember’s Restaurant is perfectly nestled on Windjammer’s pretty crescent-shaped shoreline and is the resort’s de facto beach bar.

With a laid-back ambiance, Embers offers casual dining for those relaxing at the beach during the lunch hour.

The Embers menu features a selection of fresh salads as well as hearty mains that taste great with an ice cold glass of Piton beer. Favourites on the menu include Jumbo Salt Fish Bake, Jerk Chicken Nachos, Fish Tacos, Pulled Pork Sliders, Cheeseburger, Frankfurter, Spicy Black Bean Burrito and selection of flatbreads.

Masala

In the evening, the Embers dining room transforms into Masala, the resort’s spicy Indian culinary concept.

After dining on Caribbean and Western cuisine for 3 weeks it was a delight to dig into the exotic flavours and spices of India.

We suggest sharing a few starters at the table to begin the evening: Onion Bhaji, Vegetable Samosas, and Paneer Tikka taste great dipped in a medley of sweet chutneys.

Pair your mains with basmati rice, naan and roti. Must-try entrees include Butter Chicken, Karahi Prawns, Goan Snapper and Chana Masala.
