Book A Luxurious Holiday at The Madrid EDITION

EDITION Hotels (part of the Marriott Bonvoy family) is an unexpected and refreshing collection of individualized, customized, one-of-a-kind hotels that redefine the codes of traditional luxury. For affluent, culturally savvy and service-minded guests, the EDITION lifestyle explores the intersection and balance between taste-making design and innovation with consistent, excellent service.

The Madrid EDITION first opened its doors in the Spanish capital in 2022. It was a highly anticipated hotel launch after the successful opening of The Barcelona EDITION in 2018.

The Madrid property is conveniently located in the beating heart of the Spanish capital, a few steps from Kilometer Zero, which marks the geographical centre of the country.

It is accessed via a pretty plaza reminiscent of Europe’s great public squares and piazzas, home to jovial tapas bars, scenic sidewalk cafés, and a stone’s throw from the must-see Royal Theatre, Plaza Mayor and the Royal Palace.

The building itself, designed by Spanish architect Pedro de Ribera, sits on Plaza de la Descalzas, boasting views of a 16th-century royal monastery.

At night the entrance portal across from the monastery glows a pretty pink.

The hotel’s design, under the watchful eye of Ian Schrager, is an enchanting combination of the refined elegance, purity and simplicity of British architect John Pawson and the artistry and originality of Paris-based François Champsaur.

The hotel’s main entrance features an explosion of lush greenery and a chic copper canopy that leads to an oak-lined space anchored by an over-the-top bright white spiral staircase that flows towards the lobby on the upper ground floor above.

You’ll find pops of vibrant colour making an impression throughout the property, with interior design highlights including a signature pink tunnel hallway, and the eye-popping decor from the hotel’s famous rooftop restaurant with-a-view.

The Madrid EDITION Restaurants

No review of The Madrid EDITION is complete until you’ve had an opportunity to wag your finger down the hotel’s award-winning restaurant menus.

The Madrid Edition boasts 4 unique food and beverage concepts, including 2 fine dining restaurants by award winning Mexican and Peruvian chefs as well as a sophisticated punch-inspired cocktail bar and welcoming lobby lounge.

Jeronimo

Jerónimo restaurant serves up global cuisine influenced by Mexico’s ancient culinary roots.

The concept is spearheaded by celebrated chefs Enrique Olvera and Santiago Pérez, the talent behind award-winning restaurants including Mexico City’s Pujol, Cosme in New York and Damian in Los Angeles.

The namesake of Spanish painter and engraver Jerónimo Antonio Gil, founder, and Director of the Academia de San Carlos in Mexico City echoes the strong cultural links between Spain and Mexico that this concept seeks to showcase to the senses.

The impressive multilayered space features an explosion of colours in four distinct areas, with a double-height elegant dining room distinguished by carved dark oak wall panels, and two striking alabaster and plaster pendant lights by designer Emmanuel Level Stenne.

The lounge is anchored by a long green marble bar and simple white oak floors featuring original art and elements soaked in luminescent Yves Klein inspired blues. The final flow is into a more casual light-filled space, dressed with limestone floors, black and white marble tables and a background of Luis Barragán inspired hot pink, bold magenta and bright orange colours with lots of greenery.

The hotel’s all-day dining concept serves up daily breakfast from 7-11am, weekend brunch from 1-4pm, lunch from 1-4pm, and dinner from 8pm until late.

Breakfast at Jerónimo is surely one of the hotel’s highlights, with a menu featuring quality espresso, a selection of Mexican breakfast dishes (think tortilla, mole, and pico de gallo) as well as western favourites such as French Toast and pancakes.

Visit the restaurant at dinner to indulge in the bold flavours of Mexico with highlights including smoky Mezcal muddled cocktails, tender chicken slathered in black mole, Iberian pork chops with black garlic and apple puree, and DIY tacos stuffed with barbecued king prawns, pineapple and pico de gallo.

Punch Room

Punch Room at The Madrid EDITION re-defines punch for a contemporary sipping experience.

Traditional punches are composed of five elements of flavour: Spirit, Citrus, Sweetener, Dilution, and Spice. The inventive mixologists at Punch Room in Madrid have expanded the definition to include unconventional spirit combinations, and unexpected flavour pairings from a wider array of non-traditional botanicals.

Old World elements of whisky and sherry meet New World traditions of pisco, cachaca, and agave spirits. Classic teas and cava mingle with Oriental flowers and tropical coconut.

Under dim lighting, the intimate space unfolds in a rich tapestry of colours and textures, featuring dark oak wall panels, a basalt stone fireplace, grey pony hair Jean-Michel Frank armchairs.

The handsome brushed copper bar, and a standout bronze-polished mirror by Paris-based design studio Garnier & Linker, make it the perfect date night spot to romance your sweet heart on holiday.

Beyond punchy craft cocktails the extensive drinks list features top shelf beer, cognac, whiskies, rum, vermouth, gin, tequila, mezcal, vodka, and fine wines by the glass.
