My first feast in Cardiff, Wales was a memorable meal at Laguna Kitchen located a short hop, skip and a jump through the Park Plaza Hotel’s posh lobby. I hadn’t slept a wink on my redeye flight into Heathrow so enjoyed a half dazed dinner as my body acclimatized to the new time zone. The Welsh capital was enjoying a spot of Spring showers that evening, a pitter patter could be heard on the umbrellas overlooking the restaurants patio as lush green tree’s swayed overhead.

The dining room is one big open space with a view looking into Chef Justin Llewellyn’s bustling kitchen. Comfy leather wrapped chairs scoot under wooden square tabletops while lengthy mirrors above tilt downwards allowing guests to snoop at what their neighbours are eating across the room. The Laguna Bar is perhaps the restaurants most fantastic feature, recently winning Cocktails Bar of the Year at the Cardiff Life Awards. The bar is tucked behind the dinning rooms wine rack and offers guests a cozy lounge vibe where creative cocktails are sipped alongside champagne flutes and petillant pints.
