Modus Ristorante in Toronto

It was another stunning summer evening in July and while zooming down Bay Street on my bike I couldn’t help but dream of AC and a thirst quenching cocktail. I passed by a Krombacher adorned umbrella filled patio and popped into the cool and comfortable bar that first greets you at Modus Ristorante.

Dinner at Modus Ristorante that evening would be a double date with Frank and my old pals Erica and Trevor. We started off with a quadrilogy cocktail sampling. Sipping from the glass and passing to the right so everyone had an opportunity to find their favourite. We spent the next two hours catching up over Italian fine wine from Piedmont while nibbling through some of the restaurants signature dishes. Highlights included tuna tartare with creamy avocado, crispy arancini stuffed with spicy Italian sausage, sweet corn stuffed ravioli with dungeness crab and lobster tossed in hand cut squid ink tagliatelle. Scallops, duck, beef ribs and a duo of desserts provided a final conclusion which had us waddling out of the restaurants in a bit of a smitten daze.
