Kitchener’s B @ THEMUSEUM a Hub for Ontario Craft Beer

On a hot summer day I strolled outside of Kitchener’s City Hall and was greeted by a lively local band, who on a Friday at noon were entertaining daytime shoppers, many of which took a pause to their busy day to dance in the park with glee.

I skipped up the stately main street where old school red brick facades contrast with lively patios, one of which that sits nestled beside a sandy beach volleyball court. First impressions prove that Kitchener is quirky.

Local craft beer fans enthusiastically chirp their love for B @ THEMUSEUM, a cozy restaurant which celebrates Ontario’s fine craft beer and cider producers. The interior is decked out in the owners own wood cabinetry while little wood stumps act as side tables or stools when the restaurant gets busy.

So what’s with the name? The restaurant is located within THEMUSEUM, and is run by B Hospitality, which manage a handful of hospitality brands within Waterloo region including the Cambridge Hotel & Conference Centre, The Bruce Craft House and the Bruce Caboose Food Truck.

Executive Chef Aaron Clyne’s menu features a string of quirky dishes which pair perfectly with the bars always rotating craft beer offering. Steaming pork dumplings arrive in a dim sum basket slathered in hoisin and sriracha aioli, The Darkwing Duckwich is a supercharged grilled cheese sandwich featuring local duck pastrami best enjoyed dipped in blueberry ketchup, while my fave Khao Soi Chicken Sausage offers an excellent interpretation of Northern Thailand’s iconic noodle soup.

If you’re here for the thirst quenching beer, you’ll find 10 rotating taps which rotate through celebrated offerings from Ontario’s top craft breweries. Check out the chalkboard in the dining room for what suds are flowing and you’ll always find a selection of cider, sours, seasonals and a few bitter blasts for hop heads.
