Step Inside Miss Thing’s Toronto

The first queer party I attended when I moved to Toronto in 2010 was Big Primpin at Wrong Bar. It was my local watering hole, a quick hop, skip and a jump from my apartment at King and Jameson. What a surprise I received this past August after arriving to dinner to find myself standing inside the familiar space, now transformed into a Bora Bora inspired Tiki Bar!

The space has been totally redesigned and reinterpreted. The live music venue known as Wrong Bar has been sized down and renamed the Coconut Room while a swish restaurant now dubbed Miss Thing’s Toronto, has been decked out in fancy design elements reminiscent of a French Polynesian beach party.  I was immediately brought back to the Four Seasons Bora Bora, which I had the pleasure of staying last December while researching the most luxurious honeymoon paradise destinations on earth.

The Queen West restaurant and bar is named after a nickname the owner, Nav Sangha gave his four-year-old daughter. Miss Thing’s Toronto’s interior is designed by Ian Rydberg of Solid Design Build, taking subtle cues from American and Hawaiian tiki culture, and the retro mid-century hotel lobby bars of yesteryear with a fresh modern perspective. You’ll find a sophisticated space featuring pink, white and gold florals splashed across turquoise walls.
