Matisse Restaurant at The Marriott Hotel in Yorkville

The first day of Summerlicous in Toronto was excruciatingly hot. Over 40 degrees throughout the day plus a bit of obnoxious humidity. I walked from my apartment up to Yorkville with my dining companion Joaquin, looking forward to getting ourselves off the streets and into a well air conditioned dining room.

Shortly after sitting down we had a nice chat with Chef Philip Horrigan who filled us in a bit on the restaurants history and menu. The interior is inspired by French artist Matisse while the menu offers some French favourites with an overall continental appeal. The service was attentive and portion sizes were great value. We spent the next few hours slowly sipping on martinis, sampling each plate and swapping wine glasses.
