Review: L’Espresso Bar Mercurio, Toronto

At 321 Bloor Street, a hop, skip and a jump from The Bata Shoe Museum sits Arlene Setacci’s favorite brunch spot in the city. Arlene is my favorite Italian in the whole wide world and no wonder she raves about this luxurious Italan owned and operated brunch space. She enthusiastically declares, “I come here at least once a month and the owner calls me Bella!”

L’Espresso Bar Mercurio is full of fresh cut flowers, lined with floor to ceiling windows creating a brightly lit interior and often features a live Italian band. The coffee is amazing, the baked goods are authentic and to die for! As soon as patio season arrives check this space out as they have a lovely patio to lounge around on while sipping your morning prosecco.

Eggs Benedict: Black forest ham, medium poached eggs, toasted crumpet, hollandaise sauce, poached pear and frites.

Club Panini: roasted chicken, tomato, aioli, avocado, pancetta, and lettuce with frites and black olives.

Caesar Salad: Romaine lettuce, asiago cheese, roasted prosciutto, classic creamy dressing.

Pastries: Chocolate Chip Macaroons, Cranberry Shortbread, Dacquiose, Blueberry Scone, Amaretti, Almond Toronne

#61 restaurant reviewed in Ontario since moving to Toronto in 2010.
