I was ever so excited to meet Toronto food authorities Nicki, Stella and Beatrice this evening at La Societe. I had been eager to organize a dinner for the four of us to finally relax, chat about food, social media and our fine city. La Societe is the newest edition to Yorkville’s Bloor Street strip. With an extensive overhaul of the interior this massive restaurant space has diners lost in “The Paris Bistro,” for a few fleeting moments in the heart of Toronto. I enjoyed the restaurants custom tiles, beautiful main entrance with floral arrangements and overhead stain glass, massive bar and stunning patio seating.
As soon as we arrived we immediately ordered alcoholic beverages (it was one of those days!) We spent the next four hours slowly eating our way through the menu. I was so elated to spend the evening with these ladies chatting about blogging and sharing silly personal stories (like how challenging it is to eat with friends and family who don’t understand that they need to wait for pictures to be taken before the food is devoured). When each course arrived we all took several minutes to rotate around the table to take pictures of each dish. Nicki conducted a round table conversation with her flip cam for her vlog while Stella and I both snapped photos for our food blogs.
The restaurants vibe is full of French eye candy, albeit a bit loud when fully packed at the dinner hour. I think their bar may just be the best in the city (a great spot to impress a date, wink wink). I appreciate the restaurants staff for providing stellar service and an exemplary dining experience.
Must Eats: The French Onion Soup was perfectly executed, heavy on the onions, rich with a perfect booze kick. The torchon was a delight and suggest that you order it to share with your table as eating an entire serving would probably make your eyes roll back into your skull. We all unanimously raved over the presentation and sensory experience of the Tuna Tartar. My Steak Frites were stellar (as my mother says, “that steak was as soft as a marshmallow). Nicki ordered her favourite Creme Brulee and I pushed for the Profiteroles both of which were a sweet finish to a a sensational French Feast.
