Step Inside Farmhouse Tavern Toronto
Farmhouse Tavern is one of the best restaurants in The Junction, in Toronto’s West End.
Restauranteur Darcy MacDonnell, opened Farmhouse Tavern in Toronto in June 2012. Previously Darcy had worked at the management level for restaurants such as Oliver & Bonacini, SIR Corp and La Societe.
Step inside Farmhouse Tavern Toronto and you’ll find a rural Ontario vibe. Designed with the help of Michelle Mawby, skip around the dining room and you’ll find antique chairs, hardwood floors, vintage chandeliers and moose horns.
Darcy describes the restaurant as, “a little bit country, a little bit rock and roll.” It’s a friendly self-styled gastro-pub serving barnyard chic that he’s personalized by hanging photos on the walls featuring the old MacDonell farmhouse and family crest.
In the warm summer, the Canadian farm-to-table restaurant offers one of Toronto’s best patios. It’s the best place in The Junction to enjoy weekend brunch with friends and family. The al fresco space is even decorated with an herb garden that sits on rusty scrap metal. The restaurant’s barbecue smoker even gives new life to a tractor.
The restaurant also features an intimate private dining space called “Hunt Camp,” which seats 9-12 guests at one high top table.

Farmhouse Tavern Toronto Dinner Menu
Executive Chef Ashley MacNeil scribbles the restaurant’s latest menu each day on an old school chalk board that hangs on the wall in the dining room.
If the name didn’t tip you off, the Canadian dishes served here are hearty enough to make any hard working farm boy full. Expect eye-popping presentations on serving plates that arrive on the table as weathered wooden slabs.
The restaurant’s “Ontario farm in the city concept,” makes it one of the best dining rooms in the city to feast on the best food and drink Canada has to offer.
The menu listed below offers an idea of what dishes you can expect to find during any given dinner or brunch service. The kitchen’s inspiration change regularly to reflect what’s in season across Ontario.
Darcy also does a great job at curating a drinks menu that truly represents the finest producers in Ontario. You’ll find local craft beer by Beau’s, Blood Brothers, Steam Whistle and Collective Arts.
Oenophiles in Ontario will love sipping their way through the provinces best bottles from Prince Edward County and Niagara. There’s a petite list of premium craft cider too!

Reading this post… my mouth has been watering the whole time. The carnivore in me in rejoicing (militant vegetarians and vegans hate me). It’s nice to see the Junction area with these great venues for fantastic food.
Was certainly a meat lovers moment!
