Jonathan and I found ourselves on the Gardiner Expressway on a sunny Friday evening bound for Mississauga. I twiddled my thumbs wondering why it was ever given that name…nothing “express” about it! Eventually we found our zoom and screeched to a halt in front of &Company Resto Bar. I had been invited to check out their space, refreshed Spring/Summer menu and cocktail offerings. I had also been informed there would be a wee burlesque show marking a transition in the evening from sips and nibbles to dance floor moments.
The Manager informed me that they have a fantastic summer patio (which was not yet open for the season) and based on the location and crowd I can imagine it bustles whenever there is a heat wave. Arriving into the space one finds an elegant sports bar followed by bench seating that flows into a large dining room. These tables are swept away after dinner service opening up a large dance floor.
&Company offers a substantial beverage list with a wild assortment of beer, wine and cocktail offerings. Mixed drinks cater more to the tastes of female patrons (every martini and cocktail seems to be fruity) so bourbon and whisky enthusiasts should order their favourites neat or on the rocks.
Over the course of our three hour stay we sipped through cocktails and nibbled through some of the kitchens more interesting dishes. Braised beef short ribs were a delight paired with an interesting mix of celeriac puree, pineapple, asparagus and jagermeister steeped raisins. The chef’s beautifully presented Surf and Turf offered a tender steak and fresh lobster tail dripping with sweet butter.
Shortly after 9pm four buxom burlesque dancers entertained the crowd as they dizzied themselves throughout the dining room. &Company has done a great job at creating a space for young professionals to relax and entertain themselves after a long week at work.
