Greggy and I grabbed a few bites at the new Nadege boutique in Summerhill and scooted over to Bar Centrale on a rainy Sunday afternoon to nibble and enjoy a latte. We had to wait about 30 minutes for the menu to switch over from brunch to their lunch offerings.
I had heard about this new Terroni’s outfit last summer and had been eager to check it out for some time. Bar Centrale really is a cute little addition to the Summerhill and Rosedale food scene. They also have a spacious patio that would be a delight to sit at during the spring and summer months.
The fried mozzarella and arancini were served with undressed mixed greens. Both could have used some sort of dip, even honey. Bland and unimaginative. The N’duja crostini was well prepared but just ended up being something I really don’t have a heart for.
The meals saving grace was the Fettucini Fabietto. Terroni makes all of their pasta in house with fresh eggs so I knew we had to order up one of their creations. I loved how the dish was served in a little copper dish with a lid. Voila grand opening! A beautiful harmony of flavours with artichoke, mint and pecorino cheese. I wouldn’t return to Bar Centrale for a meal. It would be a great place to grab a drink and share some nibbles just try and stick to their pasta dishes. It’s what they do best.
