Cheese: L’Extra Brie

Brie L’Extra is a mild unctuous soft cow’s milk cheese that features the pronounced flavours of cream and nuts. Its unique texture makes it creamy but not runny. I can appreciate this cheese but it doesn’t list as one of my favourites. I most enjoy Brie’s with a higher fat content like St. Andre’s Triple Cream. Interesting to note that L’Extra’s Double Cream Brie has won numerous awards: 2005 Royal Winter Fair in soft cheese category, 2nd Place at the 2007 American Cheese Society in the Brie Category and 2nd Place at the 2007 British Empire Cheese Show in soft cheese category. Looks like the double cream should be on your radar.
