The hotel was first built in 2000 by Australian architect Bruce Fell-Smith. It initially launched with just 5 villas but over the years has expanded to take on the appearance of a breezy village.
The intimate Kahanda Kanda Galle property is home to just 12 individually designed villas, 8 of which boast private plunge pools. The resort spreads out across a 13 acre working tea estate, which is home to a parade of pretty peacocks and tongue wagging lizards.

The hotel stands out due to its elegant art collections, antiques, exotic gardens and landscaped tea-fringed acres overlooking scenic Koggala Lake.
Upon arrival guests check-in at the central Living Pavilion where they’re given a refreshing welcome drink then escorted to their villa to relax.
