Grapefruit Old Fashioned Bourbon Cocktail
The original Old Fashioned dates back to the early 1800s, made simply with whiskey, sugar, and bitters. Our grapefruit version is a modern craft cocktail innovation that adds a bright, citrusy twist.
Infusing the Old Fashioned with the flavour of grapefruit gives the cocktail a tart, bittersweet edge that balances the boldness of bourbon, making it more approachable for people who might find the original too strong.
We use freshly squeezed grapefruit in our recipe but you can add additional grapefruit flavour by adding grapefruit bitters or grapefruit soda.
While the classic Old Fashioned leans cozy winter sipper, the grapefruit version feels refreshing enough for spring and summer, especially when served over a big ice cube with fresh slice of grapefruit.
