Old Fashioned Jam Donut Muffins

Muffin Batter

  • 1 3/4 cups all purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp nutmeg
  • 1/4 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/3 cup vegetable oil
  • 3/4 cup white sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup Raspberry Jam


  • 1/2 cup melted butter
  • 1/3 cup white sugar
  • 1 tsp lemon zest


  • In a bowl, combine four, baking powder, salt, nutmeg and cinnamon.
  • In another bowl, combine thoroughly oil, sugar, egg and milk.
  • Add liquid ingredients to dry and stir only to combine.
  • Fill well-greased muffin tins half way with batter. Spoon a teaspoon of raspberry jam into the centre of each muffin cup. Top jam with additional batter until it each tin is full to the rim.
  • Bake Old Fashioned Jam Filled Donut Muffins at 350F for 20 minutes.
  • Shake muffins out of their tins immediately when done. While still hot, wash with melted butter and dip in white sugar and lemon zest.
