A Cocktail Sloshed Brunch at Ravine Vineyard in Niagara on the Lake

There’s nothing more enjoyable than sleeping in on a weekend then heading out in the early afternoon in search of a restorative brunch. Ravine Vineyard Estate Winery offers one of Niagara on the Lake’s best breakfast offerings, packing out on weekends as local families keep cozy in a sun-soaked dining room that overlooks row upon row of lush vines.

If it’s your first visit to Ravine start your itinerary by popping into the winery’s tasting room for a sampling of serious sips, from Cabernet Franc to Reserve Riesling. Afterwards stroll down the hall and shop through their boutique grocery, which features local cheeses, freshly baked bread, and a line of Ravine’s own Lowrey Brothers preserve labels (from vanilla bean and bourbon Niagara peaches to simple pizza sauce).

Skip over to the restaurant and you’ll find a newly installed bar perfect for grabbing a pre-brunch craft cocktail. In 2016 cider fans rejoiced as Ravine launched its first program which currently bottles Lowrey Brothers Apple, Peach and Pear Cider. The peach cider tastes like “a Niagara summer in a glass,” a testament to the fact that the Ravine team source all their fruit from local farmers.

Once seated in the dining room, run your finger through the brunch menu and you’ll find fun twists on classics like the eggs bennie as well as inventive offerings such as beet and goat cheese salad tossed in curry vinaigrette, a fillet of salmon accompanied by crab grits, and a simple Monte Cristo prepared with house cured ham, egg dipped brioche, 5 brother gouda, and crunchy frites dipped in Ravine’s own old school ketchup.
