Brunch at The Cub Room Restaurant in Rochester

The Cub Room is located in the South Wedge area of Rochester in a 90 year old building which was previously used as a manufacturing facility for heating and pipe work. The owners moved to Rochester with their two kids after spending over 20 years working in fine dining restaurants in New York City.

The Cub Room gets its name from a restaurant in Manhattan that was opened by a bootlegger named Sherman Billingsley in 1929, called The Stork Club. The Stork Club was frequented by celebrities, politicians, and gangsters; they all mixed and mingled in the V.I.P. room within the Stork Club – called The Cub Room.

If you’re keen on indulging in a lazy midday feast hop up at the bar and you’ll find high quality cocktails in a speak easy style, inspired by the history of the prohibition era, where the presentation is just as dramatic as the cocktail itself. Brunch at The Cub Room is best enjoyed with the bartenders signature Breakfast, served in a dainty tea cup, the luxurious libation features a muddling of gin, earl grey dry vermouth, and orange bitters, delicately adorned with a twirl of lemon rind.

The kitchen offers a lengthy selection of breakfast classics with a hat tip and homage to Italian tradition. Highlights include The Cub Fry (fried eggs, grilled tomato, home fries, bacon, sausage, backed beans, rye toast), buttercup squash stuffed Raviolo, classic Biscuits and Gravy, Flat Bread topped with ricotta cream, artichoke puree, crispy pancetta, scallions, and calabrian chili, and Rattle Snake Rosie’s French Toast adorned with caramelized apples and doused in apple pie whiskey syrup.
