TIFF17 | Margot Robbie Celebrates the Premiere of I, Tonya at Montecito

With late night soirees in full swing this week TIFF’s celebrity seeking fans are lining the streets hoping to lock eyes with their fave Hollywood celebs. Last night was no different as Margot Robbie, Sebastian Stan and Allison Janney sauntered through the front doors of Montectio Restaurant on Adelaide street for a posh post premiere celebration with Hugo Boss for the Canadian screening of their biopic I, Tonya.

The film, directed by Craig Gillespie has Margot Robbie staring as controversial Olympic figure skater Tonya Harding in a tragic, yet comic look into one of the biggest scandals in US sports history.

Some may remember in 1994 when competitive ice skater Tonya Harding was rising among the ranks at the U.S. Figure Skating Championships when suddenly her future and reputation in the sport were thrown into the incinerator. Harding’s ex-husband attacked the competition and medal hopeful Nancy Kerrigan at a practice session for the Championship, hitting her repeatedly with a crowbar to the leg. He later implicated Tonya’s involvement in order to avoid serious jail time.

Out front of Montecito the black carpet was laid, giant ice sculpture fittingly of figure skates in place and the Hugo Boss Branded Party Pix photo-booth completed the scene at the spacious two-story venue. Guests packed the restaurant sipping Grolsch while Executive Chef Matt Simpson had patrons munching on a wide array of sophisticated two-biters featuring eggplant caviar, steak tartar, deep fried duck with mustard, tuna crisps with citrus chili and mint, mini grilled cheese, avocado toast and Buffalo cauliflower bites.

Triple axel in my mouth? Yes please!
