5 Luxury Hotel Cocktail Bars To Sip Through in Hong Kong

Offering food fans a 24 hour smorgasbord, Hong Kong’s culinary scene is famous for its tiny bites of edible art found at glitzy Michelin Star restaurants to humble local joints preparing authentic finger-licking-good duck, goose and pork barbecue.

On a recent trip to Hong Kong I took the time to zig-zag across the city in search of the most inspiring craft cocktail bars. I skipped from one luxury hotel to the next, chatting with the city’s top mixologists while nibbling on spicy wasabi nuts and fancy Foie gras topped tacos.

I always make a point of sussing out trendsetting cocktail bars in the destinations I travel because I believe mixologists are just as integral to a city’s thriving culinary scene as any notable chef cooking in the kitchen. I’ve documented my fave spots to slip slowly at luxury hotels which stand tall in cosmopolitan Manhattan as well as romantic honeymoon resorts on the tropical island of Bali.

So on your next trip to Hong Kong, slide up to one of these luxury hotel cocktail bars and you’ll find the perfect perch for people watching.

Claiming the title as highest bar in the world and designed by Tokyo-based interior designer Masamichi Katayama, OZONE at Ritz-Carlton Hong Kong pushes the edge of Hong Kong’s urban night out scene. Step outside the lightening fast elevator and you’ll feel as though you’ve entered a futuristic spaceship.

Looking for a little pomp and panache? Order OZONE’s signature HK Skyline, a flamboyant tipple featuring a muddling of Zacapa, Absinth, Imperial oolong syrup, pink grapefruit, lime, Dom Perignon Foam, chocolate stones and Apple Wood smoke. If keen to compliment your cocktail with a few next-level nibbles enjoy a selection of Spanish tapas from the OZONE kitchen featuring montaditos, smoked salmon and crab roulade, and artichokes with quail egg and white sturgeon caviar.

Hailing from London and making its debut at The Langham Hong Kong is Artesian. The award-winning bar concept features interiors that combine a nostalgic romance of Art Deco details with alluring contemporary touches. Featuring Bourbon creations at its best and Gin and tonic specialties, guests at Artesian can expect the finest classic cocktails masterfully crafted with house-made infusions, shaken and stirred by a friendly and fashionable bar crew.

Tuck in at the petite bar which overlooks a booming fireplace and sip your way through a trilogy of tipples. The Spiced Thai Royale arrives in gold wire wrapped coconut chalice, Garden Globe offers flower fans a sweet sip topped with an impressive ice sphere and the boozier Journey Through Aberdeen features house-made cherries, perfect for those who enjoy a sweet treat.

At Shangri-La Kowloon guests are greeted by a posh Lobby Lounge featuring glittering chandelier, sweet smelling fresh florals and a floor to ceiling painting which depicts the epic tale of Chinese paradise on Earth. With live classical music playing each night, Shangri-La Kowloon is an ideal spot to rest and relax while sitting in the comfort of Hong Kong’s most coveted living room.

From its prime location on Hong Kong Island, in the heart of the central district, spectacular views of Victoria Harbour and unmatched dining options elevate Four Seasons Hotel Hong Kong to a new level of hotel luxury. An ultra-chic meeting spot adjacent to the hotel’s sky-high lobby, Blue Bar offers fine wine, beer and cocktails with a daily happy hour of complimentary snacks between 5:30 pm and 7:30 pm.

Highlights from Blue Bar’s craft cocktail menu include the Four Seasons Sour (featuring the hotel’s very own signature blend tea infused with Jim Beam, egg white, lemon juice and sugar), Floradorette (a raspberry infused Small’s gin with creme de cassis, fresh lime and ginger beer), and a Barrel Aged Negroni (prepared in house with Tanqueray gin, Campari, sweet vermouth and bitters).
