Fairmont Sanur Beach Bali

Sanur is Bali’s longest-established resort and at its heart is an old Balinese community. The simple layout over Sanur’s streets and its tranquil atmosphere appeal to those seeking a relaxed vacation with the convenience of a beach resort but without the intrusiveness of Kuta’s hawkers and traffic.

If you’re looking for a luxurious resort to rest and relax on Bali’s east coast, Fairmont Sanur Beach Bali offers a refreshingly styled tropical oasis situated on four hectares of lush beachfront gardens.

The design of Fairmont Sanur Beach Bali was directly influenced by the local surroundings and richly inspired by the Balinese temple concept of ‘sanctuaries within sanctuaries’. From the structural form and landscaping to the choice of materials and curated artwork, the luxury resort is styled to create a landscape of surprising discoveries, sensory engagement and authentic local experiences.

The resort’s lush tropical gardens include a full 200 metres of direct beach frontage giving the resort that breezy holiday atmosphere that can only come from being directly on the coast.

Artfully blending culture and optimum comfort, the 120 suites and villas are some of the most spacious on the island. Each villa features custom-made furniture, handcrafted fixtures, carefully curated artwork as well as individual stone and wood pieces produced by local craftsmen. These intimate details and personalized pieces create a sense of understated luxury and encourage guests to feel at home in their own private sanctuary. Locally sourced natural materials include indigenous stones, high-grade Indonesian marble, natural shells and native woods such as mahogany and bingkari.

Just as Bali is miraculously blessed by Mother Nature, The Spa is the spiritual soul of Fairmont Sanur Beach Bali. Indulge in an extensive array of wellness and beauty treatments from revitalizing Balinese massages to soothing facial and body rituals. The Spa further embraces the full concept of wellness with a Yoga Pavilion, fitness centre and beachside Pilates classes.

If you’re muscles are feeling achey be sure to book yourself a 90 minute Traditional Balinese Relaxation Massage. Balinese massage is unique in that it combines kneading, stretching, skin rolling and pressure point techniques. After you’ve enjoyed an afternoon of rest and relaxation be sure to pamper yourself at your spa suite’s orchid flanked soak tub. Pour yourself a bubble bath and you’ll giggle with glee as you float like tofu in a bowl of steaming ramen.

Recreational facilities include a 50m infinity pool with eight beachfront cabanas along the island’s longest uninterrupted 5km beachfront walk, which curves past beachfront cafes and multi-hued wooden fishing boats. Bali is truly a water sports paradise, so guests keen to get wet are spoiled for options: canoeing windsurfing, sailing, para-sailing, boat trips and eco-tours can all be organized at the friendly concierge desk. Novice scuba divers also love exploring the warm and clear waters of Sanur Beach to swim among schools of exotic fish. If you’re an underwater expert be sure to sign up for a scuba cruise to explore the island’s east coast dive site highlights.

Tan fans looking to plop themselves down for an entire day of sun-soaked rest and relaxation have two unique options at the resort. Head straight to the beach and pamper yourself on a plush lounge chair with the sand at your feet as fishermen tinker on their boats or flop under a cabana at the resort’s refreshing pool which each night at sunset offers an inspiring pink, purple and blue splash across the horizon.

Each morning guests enjoy breakfast at the resort’s all day dining concept Layang Layang. Grab a seat outside and wake up to the world while sipping through frothy latte and freshly squeezed tropical fruit juice. As palms dance overhead and birds chirp “good morn” you’re spoilt for choice at the restaurants daily brunch buffet where Western tastes and local flavours mix and muddle.

Happy Hour is best enjoyed on the resort’s lush lawn which sprawls between the pool and beach…so prance over in your bikini a few hour before sunset to wet your whistle. At the al fresco bar, craft cocktail experts shake up tropical fruit muddled tipples featuring dragon fruit, lime and lychee while at the pop up BBQ you’ll find spicy peanut slathered satay skewers.

Fancy feasts are best enjoyed later in the evening at Nyala Beach Club & Grill which sits perched over the pool. The breezy restaurant serves Pan-Asian cuisine with a twist with highlights including carbonara filled raviolo, pumpkin and truffle soup, crab vichyssoise, lobster risotto and Balinese spiced crispy roast duck.
