It was a perfect blue sky day in early May when I arrived at the TIFF Bell Lightbox. I had been looking forward to this particular media luncheon as it would be my first visit to Oliver and Boncacini’s Malaparte event space. I had been meaning to visit for ages, but was of course waiting for the right moment (aka event invite) to make that happen. Located on the 6th floor, Malaparte’s rooftop terrace and outdoor amphitheatre is reminiscent of the roof of Villa Malaparte in Capri where Jean-Luc Godard shot Le Mépris. Glamorous. Fantastic. Someone marry me here.
Lunch that afternoon was hosted by my friends at Tourism Quebec. Many of the provinces regional tourism boards had set up shop and ecstatically talked about their destinations to a packed house of travel media. I’ve developed a wee crush on Canada’s French speaking province over the past year after enjoying press trips to Mont Tremblant and Montreal. Looks like my next stop will be a rural romp including Quebec City and the surrounding countryside which will certainly include brewery, winery and cheese farm visits.
