Review: Stock Bar at The Trump Hotel, Toronto

And there we were, bolting up to the 31st floor on North America’s fastest elevator. It was shortly after 6pm on a Friday evening when Malcolm and I found oursevles propelling into the sky inside the belly of the Trump Hotel. The doors chimed moments before we stepped into Stock Restaurant and Bar. We were greeted by two smiling hostesses and the restaurants logo which proudly features a $. A friendly reminder to ready your wallet.

We found a comfy couch by the bar where we would spend the next few hours catching up, sipping cocktails and nibbling on a selection of the kitchens signature dishes. The bar was packed full of Bay Street boys hunched over tables topped with martini glasses filled with truffled popcorn and cool glasses of scotch on the rocks. While the bar feels very machismo the dining room which extends across the space offers up a feminie touch featuring purple orchids and an elaborate design on the back wall which acts as a stage for their colourful chocolate buffet offerings. Stock also features one of Toronto’s intimate patios in the sky. A half moon sliver provides stunning views of the cities Financial District for those looking to get a breath of fresh air.

Highlights on our sip list included a thirst quenching Pepper Basil Caipirinha and signature mombacho cigar infused, “I Smoked My Sidecar.” Memorable moments off menu include a comfort craving for russian pelmeni dipped in chili sour cream, crispy yellowfin tuna tacos and rich veal osso buco.

Special thanks to the team at Trump for hosting me as their guest.
