The Grange of Prince Edward Vineyards and Estate Winery’s 2009 Rose is done in a off-dry style with nice sugar to play with the flavors of citrus and berries on the palate adding to the overall feeling of sweet bright fruit.
I had an opportunity to meet the owner Caroline who began the winery with her father in 2001 last summer during my Prince Edward County Ford Foodie Road Trip. The original Trumpour homestead, a farm patented in 1805, is now the home of the winery. This bottle which I bought at the winery last year had been unnecessarily aging on top of my bookshelf. My friend Max was celebrating his birthday so I made some chocolate cupcakes and popped open the bottle after letting it sit in the fridge for the day. The pronounced fruit notes of the Rose paired nicely with the cupcakes which I had stuffed with strawberry preserve.
