Nota Bene has been on my restaurant to do list since I moved to Toronto in the winter of 2009. I finally made a point of making a reservation for a special occasion. My sister was treating me to a very delayed birthday (in mid July when my birthday is actually April 3rd). Best to describe Amy as bringing tardy to the party but she pulls out all the stops when she does finally treat. We had a quick lunch at Nota Bene followed by a matinee of War Horse at the Princess of Wales Theatre.
We started with two tequila infused cocktails. I ordered Amy the Arndano as she is a lover of blueberries. I had the Amalfi because I am sort of obsessed with Aperol. I was most looking forward to sampling the restaurants infamous burger which Toronto Life recently ranked as one of the best in the city. It was plump and served with a smoky blue cheese, frites and gherkin. We were also delighted by the truffle so abundant in the Chanterelle salad and pasta with summer fresh zucchini flowers.
Nota Bene is a perfect spot for any celebration. Just be sure to fully stock your wallet as this baby ain’t cheap!
