Review: Yogurt Spoon, Toronto

Yogurt Spoon is a self-serve frozen yogurt joint at Yonge and Wellesley, a hop skip and a jump from my apartment. I’ll never forget my first self serve yogurt experience in Honolulu Hawaii a few years ago. The locals I was staying with were obsessed with the concept (and it definitely satisfies after a day lazing on the beach). When I moved to The Village last year I remember passing by the place (like I do to so many bubble tea shops) and made a mental note to check it out sometime. Over twelve months passed by and on a perfectly hot summer day I was trying to think of what I could do to get out of the house and enjoy the sunshine. Yogurt Spoon immediately came to mind and I soon found myself in the shop clutching an empty cup and debating what to fill up on.

The process is really very easy: select your favorite yogurts and then top them with whatever your heart desires: from fresh fruit to candy. Once finished head over the cashier who weighs your bounty at $0.45 per ounce. On my first visit I selected two yogurt flavours, raspberry and chocolate and topped with blueberries, oreo crumbs, chocolate chip cookie dough pieces and gummy bears. Drizzled with a bit of caramel sauce the total came to $8.50.

#341 restaurant reviewed in Ontario since moving to Toronto in 2010.
