In early February I took a few of my friends to watch Mnemonic Theatre Productions presentation of “Closer” by Patrick Marber. I had been looking for a good place for us to eat before the show and had Rashnaa suggested to me by a few food writers. A perfect suggestion as it was literally a two second walk up the road from the Winchester Theatre. Rashnaa is located in an old house which has now been converted into a Sri Lankan and Indian restaurant. The interior could use a little love, the space felt a little bleak. I quickly got the impression after sitting down that people don’t tend to come here for the dinning experience so much as to pick up their favorite dishes as take out. During our meal we were the only table being served while several people popped through the front door to grab large paper bags filled with take out meals to be enjoyed at home.
We enjoyed (* notes my favorites):
King Fisher Beer
Ulunthu Vadai
Chicken Biryani
Masala Dosa*
Butter Chicken *
Raita
Mango Chutney
Roti
