I recently visited Beast Restaurant located just north of King Street at Tecumseth. I had been wanting to go all summer as I had heard their Wednesday night drink and snack specials were spectacular. I had printed off the menu a week before my visit and the day before my visit double checked the menu to mentally sort of map out what I would be ordering. I arrived with my friend Liz just after 5pm. We were eager beavers and the first couple to arrive. Once we sat down we were quickly informed that their Wednesday Snack Menu had been discontinued as of last week (sad face) for the Fall and Winter season. Apparently the snack and drink specials on Wednesdays were intended for their patio season. I wish they had announced that on their website but alas we had sat down and were determined to have a good meal! We both ordered a glass of Chateau Routas “Wild Boar Red” from Provence France and were served two little artisanal breads with Jalapeno butter for slathering.

The service at Beast was excellent and the interior is cozy. I can imagine in the summer the patio is bustling into the wee hours of the night. I ordered all of the animal heavy dishes (terrine and poutine) which were both flawless in execution. Liz ordered the bok choy and scallops which didn’t wow us. The bok choy was flavorless and one of the scallops was undercooked and practically raw on the plate. If you are heading to Beast for dinner do yourself a favor and order a Beast. You won’t be disappointed.
