Bannock Restaurant in Toronto

Last night I finally had a chance to dine at Bannock by Oliver & Bonacini. The restaurant is located on Queen at Bay in a corner of the Hudson Bay Company and showcases the best of Canadian Comfort Food.

I had been hearing about the restaurant for ages now. The anticipation of the restaurant open had welled up inside of me so was glad to have the chance to dine with her during the restaurants opening week. Funny thing, Meaghan met me just before 6pm on Monday night and informed me that it would be her 3rd meal here since the restaurant opened. Seeing as she was an expert on the menu’s offerings I popped out my pen and started marking up the menu with her.

Meaghan was such a darling and actually had reserved a few of the menu items which she knew I would love so that she could experience them with me for the first time. Not hard to pick them out, high carb and fromage dishes: Mac and Cheese and Poutine Pizza. It’s always nice to know your best friends know your predictable eating habits.

Our entire meal was fantastic. The service was great and the ambiance of the place had the perfect Hudson Bay heritage touch. Bannock will be my go to restaurant suggestion for any friends or family visiting from out of the country who really want to get a taste of traditional Canadian Cuisine. I will most certainly be heading back for more. Still a good deal of the menu to eat myself through. Until then, feast your eyes on…

BBQ Chicken and Tortilla Soup

Split Pea Fritters with kozlik’s mustard mayo, rocket

Grilled Mac and Cheese with great canadian cheeses, crunchy flax granola topping
