I sat waiting for Joel at this restaurants Church Street side patio in what felt like was the first hot morning of the summer. I ended up getting a sun burn at Lola’s Commissary while enjoying a catchup conversation and satiating brunch. The interior is spacious and well lit while the patio allows people to enjoy Church Street and the morning sun. Most interesting is that this favorite brunch spot is the only one I have heard of in Toronto that holds reservations (good to know!) If you are planning on enjoying a nice brunch with friends do call ahead and have a table reserved for your party!
We enjoyed:
Eggs Benedict
poached eggs, english muffin, bacon, hollandaise with Lola Potatoes (yams and potatoes tossed in Indian curry)
Lola Benny
poached eggs, ancho chicken, polenta, hollandaise and frites

I have only been once, but I think about their cheese cake stuffed french toast, often. Another nice thing is that they offer this decadent brunch time treat as a HALF SIZE, so that you can enjoy a savory brunch and have a little something sweet on the side or as a apres brunch dessert!
