Joy Bistro located on Queen Street East in Toronto’s relaxed Leslieville neighbourhood is a favorite for East Enders. The restaurant features a great patio which will surely be a buzz as soon as the city kicks the rainy day habit and falls into summer. I visited the restaurant for brunch today with my friends Arlene and Chris. We hopped up on a booth and enjoyed latte’s while waiting for our food to arrive. We enjoyed:
cheddar and apple salad with grapes and spiced cashews
chicken club panini with applewood smoked bacon, watercress and mozzarella
eggs benny with fries and smoked aioli
The panini and frites were piping hot and a savory way to start an early lunch. The salad was fresh with large cubes of aged white cheddar and spicy cashews. Arlene who is a brunch benny conosouir wasn’t a huge fan of their offering. The hollandaise was thin and underwhelming and presentation was mediocre. The restaurant has ice cold Krombacher Pils in bottles which are a great accompaniment to a hot summer patio filled afternoon. Fingers crossed the season arrives soon!
#166 restaurant reviewed in Ontario since moving to Toronto in 2010.
