Review: Jamie Kennedy’s Gilead Cafe, Toronto

Oh Jamie Kennedy you are so lovely. I visited Toronto’s much loved locavore chef’s newest tiny little restaurant space, Gilead Cafe this past weekend for a delightful Spring dinner. Located just east of Parliament on King down a tiny little side street this cutesy dinning space features seasonal locally grown dishes. We had just spent the day at the Beaches and were suffering from a bit of sun stroke. We chugged a bit of water and even douched our heads in the bathroom to cool down.

I was ever so thankful that Leaks were in season! They were the stars of the show!

We enjoyed:

Spinach and Asparagus Soup

Wild Leak and Potato Soup

Red Fife Sourdough Bread with Butter

Spring Salad with Wild Leek Vinaigrette

Gratin of Agria Potato

Leeks Gratine with Fresh Cheese

Roast Galantine of Muskoka Chicken with Duxelles and Various Onions

Pork Hoc Terrine

#78 restaurant reviewed in Ontario since moving to Toronto in 2010.
