Review: Mercatto, Toronto

At 330 Bay Street (at Adelaide) sits one of the financial districts most popular launch spots, Mercatto. The concept is that of a busy Italian fresh market place.; a cozy kitchen served primarily to provide the bustling downtown big wigs with convenient takeout meals. The restaurant has now evolved into a thriving urban dinner location where one can enjoy a relaxed atmosphere serving classic Italian recipes with an urbane flair.

Crustini two ways: fava bean and pecorino, ricotta with pear, honey and pine nuts.

Shrimp with hot peppers, tomato and avocado

Hand rolled penne with ricotta, peas, prosciutto and parmesan

#74 restaurant reviewed in Ontario since moving to Toronto in 2010.
