Review: The Cadillac Lounge, Toronto

The Cadillac Lounge is a Parkdale icon of sorts. With its rambunctious neon pink signage and prominent Cadillac hanging above the door it is hard to miss. The space is known for its live band performances but I wanted to check out their grub. The interior is great for those who are fans of Elvis and Jack Daniels. On Wednesday’s they have a Fajita special which is rather affordable at 15 dollars for two people. I munched on a platter of hot sliced beef, roasted red peppers and fried onions and slathered on the typical fixings of shredded cheddar, sour cream and lettuce. The menu is exactly what you expect from a venue which clearly caters to a drinking crowd. The food was nothing to write home about but my beer was served cold and in a glass so I was pleased. I would certainly come back here if I had a big group of friends who wanted to get some drinks and share a bunch of greasy bar bites but wouldn’t rush back on a personal pilgrimage. You may just find me here during the week sipping on a pint while chatting with a few mangled Parkdale locals (the less teeth in their gums the better)! I need myself a local watering hole and now that I’m out of a job I figure I might as well make some eccentric friends as they days pass through my fingers.

#67 restaurant reviewed in Ontario since moving to Toronto in 2010.
