The Prague Fine Food Emporium (638 Queen Street West) is one of my favorite restaurants in the West End. The space is divided into a cafe/restaurant and a eastern european deli (home made sausages, imported cheeses and sweet treats). The cafe serves Czech favorites: Schnitzel, Goulash, Dumplings (Knedlik) and a wide variety of salads and pastries.
I enjoyed the restaurants simple cucumber and dill salad, stellar perogies, potato pancakes with sour cream/apple sauce and beef in a sauerbraten sauce served with bread dumplings and topped with cranberries and creme fraiche. Finished off with a plate of chicken schnitzel with salad and pickles.
The Prague serves up Eastern European food right and the staff are excellent. I have traveled to Slovakia (formerly Czechoslovakia) and urge you to visit this authentic Eastern European foody heaven.
#2 restaurant reviewed in Ontario since moving to Toronto in 2010.
